Sin Theta dropped their self titled debut EP and rifftastic are sinking their teeth into it!
First of all i have never heard of these guys until Andy Pilkington(Very Metal Art) did their music vid for 'obsolescence' and from that alone i was excited to listening to this EP.
What can i say... it's riffy, heavy, anthemic and groovy with so many influences all coming together to create a unified sound of thrash and old school heavy metal with hints of death, what isn't to love about that!?
The EP remains consistent and doesn't drop in quality all the way through 'Thy Bloody Kingdom' is RIFFTASTIC reminding me of Accept and Kreator! this song is a epic piece clocked at 8.52 mins of metal glory!
Obsolescence is a change of pace you welcome and with a lovely intro and harmonies but then into full blown almost grunge Alice In Chains which in all fairness really shows their diversity and song writing range!
'The Everflowing Tide' is the calm before the storm of 'Nefarious' which comes in like a death metal band with great riffs and a catchy chorus and can only be described as Phil Ansemlo moments which surprised me but certainly different, ending the EP displaying to all the variety that Sin Theta are.
Overview: Interesting and versatile record throwing so much of what makes metal great into one record and making a point of it, yes sin Theta you have my attention now get busy on that full length!
