SIderian hailing from northampton, UK blend a mix of groove and black metal to create a harsh but clean headbang inducing barrage of riffs, screams and shredding drums.
From the get go this album is hard hitting and abrasive 'Geneva' has one heck of a intro riff and blows the album open with screams and blast beats ticking every box i have and blowing into heavy riffage and harsh vocals chiming in time with the drums creating a great groove!
Next up 'With The Tide' Reminded me of meshuggah at the start and then flowing into a slower and more melodic side to siderian soon to kick up the tempo with a flurry of noddly riffs and off beat drum then flowing into the chuggy meshuggah riff with a vengeance embraced soon after with tremolo riffage and kick drums for days!.
'The Supplicant' AGGRESSIVE! got me immediately into the groove and loved every second of it! definitely the heavier of the tracks so far felt the grit of this band on this one.
Title track 'Origins' gallops into the fray like a horse burning from acid lightning! absolute belter of a track verging on grindcore with the relentless vocals and riffage and the way it flows the groove in is increible with blast beats and ferocious shredding.
'Voices' the groove track has arrived a solid headbanger slowing the pace down after 'origins' which was well needed but dont think its any less heavy! the clean section was strange and i didnt see it coming almost spanish sounding acoustic guitar and atmosphere breaks up the song into a mental scream and pleasant riffage and a prog sounding solo, unsure if it worked for me... felt a little plopped out of nowhere and it didn't make sense in the song when it goes back into the heavier groove and ends leaving me puzzled.
'Id Breaker' The intro riff was bizarre sounding like a nintendo game with stabby slow sections following this song is definitely my least favorite on the album but it does pick up but its not substantial enough to push the track the ending on a chug fest groove and open strums.
'Lizard Method Statement' Picking up the slack this song comes in with a melodic and groovy riff that plummets into harmonies and heavy sections exploring the more melo/death side to the band ending on a high bringing energy back to the album.
'Sneak Attack' is groovetastic some standout work here between the guitarist and the drummer! definitely showcasing the professionalism of the musicians not to mention this track easily being one of the heaviest tracks on the album.
Ending on 'Oleum' really reminding me of meshuggah again on that intro riff slapping you with epic chugfest and sexy riffage this track definitely feels like a finale with its signature groove and occasional melodic side and ferocious screams.
Overview: Groovy, riffy, blasty and shreddy! This album was a mix of all that is Siderian the combination of styles and influences are all in the veins of the band creating a interesting sound that's familiar but its own beast thats got past its first stage of evolution i feel this band has more to grow in the coming releases.
7.5/10 RIFFS
