Le Menhir - Ombre 'EP Review'

UK Post metal Doomers Le Menhir hit our inbox with their debut EP 'Ombre' ready to lull us into a deep dark sleep, Lets drift away shall we?

The record opens with Nocturne with a interesting intro that transitions into a what we would call a simple and repetitive riff but it builds the song up for the main riff with vocal stabs going two and fro with the snare, I much prefer the second half of the song with its lovely chord progression and haunting vocals and more unique additions.

Second up is Silice it's a instrumental with just vinyl crackling and guitars and it's absolutely enchanting setting you up for the main course Fossile which has a amazing intro riff thats is hypnotic and creepy, the vocals i loved in this one was almost ritualistic in execution.

This track is definitely the most doom sounding song on the EP this is what i was hoping to hear ending the EP on a high.

Overview: Ombre has some interesting elements of post metal and doom that rival their peers in originality and creativity, i shall be keeping my eye on these.

7/10 RIFFS
