Ekranplan are a D-beat, sludge, grind, hardcore band from Germany, self described as "ugly music". This is going to be a mad one i think.
There's some exceptionally aggressive, heavy and groovy sections all the way though this album that never let up on the listener, barraging them with a walls of rage and noise. The songs are nonconforming and surreal at times which really add a sense of hypnotism to the listener. After 3 songs I wanted to see this live, I feel watching these live is the best way to jump into the chaos and revel in the grooves and screams! The production is very raw but clearly crafted to specifically sound as it does, portraying the bands grit and unique sound.
I do not have a favorite track the album as the entire album is similar, it is just an intense attack on the senses and is disorientating. The albums length is perfect for them to make an impression, to leave you to sit there gathering whats left of your shattered brain, making sense of what just happened.
Overview: Aggressive, nonconforming and intense, Hypnopaedia is a whirlwind of noise and rage that you will enjoy being swept away by. 7/10
