Dead River Kings are a band i seen about on bills and amusing videos and i never actually heard any material by them, so this dropping in my inbox was a welcomed sight! Lets get stuck in!
'God Die' First off that guitar tone and riff sets a good precedent for the rest of the record groovy, heavy and crunchy i bite down and enjoy this well presented a groove laden meal.
For seconds we have 'Pipe Of Gold' this song really gave a me a clutch vibe big time! great riffs and catchy chorus line and heavy breakdown at the end that i could not headbang to.
Thirds now! 'Spiritual Gold' this could have convinced me was a death metal song from that intro and riffs, a great track i would love to see this live! the mid song change up had me nodding like a bobblehead and that SOLO! Incredible stuff. easily my favorite so far.
Forth in getting full now 'Four Words' "CAUSE I NEED FOUR WORDS! YEEYEAAAH!" that had me from the get go, as per usual great riffs and song writing mixing chugs with groove and a fantastic chorus line that's easy to sing along to.
For desert 'Jaded And Blind' ending this EP in style, sounding sinister and dark comparatively to previous tracks though my least favorite of the album but it definitely felt like the ending track and felt very conclusive. "YEAH YEAH"
Overview: Groovy, heavy, catchy and filling! tasty riffs great songwriting surprisingly heavy sections and memorable choruses! 'Hymns Of Hope And Despair ' puts 'Dead River Kings' On the map and i will definitely be catching them live when i can!
