Dark Rites are a hybrid of everything that makes metal what it is from wailing guitar solos, screams and epic riffs and double bass pedals. The record 'welcome to eternity' has its great moments and some moments that sound the same but with a 12 track album, some songs will start to blur due to its length. Quantity is good in albums but doesn't forget the flow from track to track is important too!
That aside this album has so many great headbanging moments and grooves! plus the vocalist sounds like Randy Blythe which in itself is quite a feat, I found myself nodding along and bouncing to some sections and songs throughout the album and comparing it to bands I have grown familiar with.
One of my favourite tracks was 'Fist Through The Wall' reminding me of old school metal like judas priest combined with amon amarth! 'Starving For Violence' stood out too and was surprisingly heavy with blast beats and chuggy riffs that felt more concrete than other tracks on the album.
Overall its enjoyable listen with great riffs and vocals and songs with great presence, Dark Rites have undeniable talent between them but I feel 'Welcome To Eternity' is just a taste of what they are capable of and I look forward to what they do from here.
