Meet the leeds death metallers Cadaver Soiree bringing old school death metal to you whether you like it or not! luckily i like it!
The production is what you expect from a debut of a underground death metal album, it feels raw and gritty like when i first heard Deicide! this album has a few questionable production choices which might work with some people or not with others for example the reverb echo on the guitar sometimes takes away everything else from the track sometimes or the underpowered drums in the mix etc BUT THAT'S THE ONLY CRITICISM.
Relentless and unforgiving this is old school death metal! from the back to back riff to riff of 'Cordcepts' bring a sinister intro accompanied with creepy synths which normally is difficult to make it work with death metal but they pull it off very well!
The groove of 'Limbless' is undeniable without mercy barrages you and find yourself banging your head in agreeance!
There's some sexy headbang moments in this record like in 'Augmented' and the album occasionally breaks it up with atmospheres and synths showing a blackened influence to the record with 'Aeons of lies', 'Writhing Lies' has real Obituary vibes to it and that's not a bad thing to any degree!
waffle aside and keep to the point as a debut this hits a sweet spot i imagine this hits hard live which where all metal belongs, I would love to hear a record these guys come out with with a studio budget! vocally gritty harsh and momentous accompanied by solid songwriting and riffage! there's some really good section memorable songs and actual SOLOS.... Arent we fortunate.
Overview: Some great moments and memorable Riffs/songs even though it was raw DIY production it was a still enjoyable listen.
