Beyond The Void - Ex Nihilo Nihil 'EP Review'

So we have Beyond The Void Death metal band from Strasbourg, France! first french band i reviewed i think.. faisons cela!!

Brutal and dirty this record from the get go hits you with what they are all about!!! raw and to the point brutal death metal, no bells and whistles or mix and master magic just DEATH METAL as a methodology we can all get behind or if you don't then you will have your brain melted!

The sub styles of death metal run through these guys with growls, brees, gutturals and grunts let alone the chunky groovy brutal riffs, epic solos, funky bass and driving drums., i can hear a lot of influences of these guys in the EP cannibal corpse, bolt thrower etc but more than enough original creativity to be less of tribute and more of a nod towards their influence.

The musicianship of these guys is something to be admired the play with tempos and utilize it masterfully creating more impact from the riffs and transitions and vocals,The way they integrated melodic solos into brutal death metal is no easy feat etc and they pull it off without a hitch! kudos.

Among The ruins Of Dead Civilizations and On My Side Of The Screen were my personal favorites on the EP they just stood out to me, the flow of the record is very good, most EP`s are a jumble of songs but Beyond The Void seem to found a balance making it a much more intended listen.

Overview: Gritty, dirty, brutal with a touch of melody and more metal than your nans kettle as EP`s go this shows a lot of promise.

7.5/10 RIFFS
