Atlas Eternal - Beneath The Cosmic Silence 'Album Review'

Atlas Entity is a one-man prog death band from Florida, USA! murica!...ehem..we had it thrown at us to listen to and be brutally judgemental! Just kidding.

It starts off eerie and bizarre with a odd intro and atmospheres soon to follow the album opens with drama and scale with interesting tones and structures, Really reminds me 'Ne Obliviscaris' which is not a bad thing in any shape, but it has enough of its own differences to make it stand on its own merits !

which is nice.

Quick mention on the distorted vocals, they are definitely inhaled which is just so bad for your vocal chords!! Im looking at you mister! you need to look after your voice! BUT scolding aside they don't sound jarringly too bad or ruin the songs/album flow and they are mixed in well etc so happy days.

Due to only being one person in the project you can see the echo chamber of style in the songs from tones and structures to riffs etc are all very similar but that's not necessarily a bad thing, It gives something to say about sticking to your guns and keeping consistency but it can at the same time can get saturated, i feel Atlas hit the balance just right!.

The record goes from the extremes of 'Murmurs Of Dissent' and 'Visions Of Gold' seamlessly morphing into atmospheric and ethereal tracks that verge onto eerily gothic sounding tracks like 'Windswept' and especially ' scorned by the snow' which i liked allot!

The tracks supported by heavy riffs, acoustic guitar, piano and spoken word sections that really add some depth into the music and taking you to the intended melancholy destination.

It ends on a high accumulating all the album into one track with all the previous elements displayed with 'celestial noise' bringing the album to a close and feeling like a satisfying conclusion.

Overview: Impassioned, deep and melancholy! Altar Entitiy have grown into a substantial project with a lot of talent and allot to say, but i genuinely feel this is just the start for them and they can only grow from here.

8/10 RIFFS
